Course Description

Avoid efficacy loss & achieve desired effect in your skin care cosmetics at lower cost by improving delivery of active ingredients to skin with science-based tools.

Mark Chandler will help you avoid costly trials & achieve greater performance at lower loading. He will explain:
  • Factors behind delivery of active ingredients to skin (solubility, diffusion…)
  • How to predict & adjust those with a joint approach of Hansen Solubility Parameter (HSP) & Formulating for efficacy (FFE™) modelling software

Why should you view this course?

Achieving optimal efficacy in cosmetic formulations is often hindered by the challenge of effectively delivering active ingredients to the skin. The solution of increasing higher concentrations of active ingredients won't always give you the desired result but will definitely reflect a significant rise in your production costs.

This course provides a science-based approach to enhance the delivery of active ingredients to the skin, helping you avoid efficacy loss and reduce formulation costs. Through this course you will be able to:

  1. Optimize active ingredient delivery: Understand the key factors influencing ingredient delivery, such as solubility and diffusion.

  2. Utilize predictive tools: Employ Hansen Solubility Parameters (HSP) and Formulating for Efficacy (FFE™) modeling software to predict and improve ingredient delivery.

  3. Achieve greater efficacy with lower loadings: Reduce formulation costs by using scientific methods to enhance ingredient delivery and achieve desired results with less active.

  4. Balance sensorial aspects: Go beyond efficacy and learn how to integrate sensorial and user experience considerations into your formulations.

Who should join this course?
  • Skin care formulators who want to achieve greater efficacy by having more control over the delivery of active ingredients to the skin.

  • This course is suitable for intermediate level proficiency

Questions you will be able to answer after this course:
  1. How to troubleshoot issues with ingredient compatibility?

  2. How can the skin penetration of current active ingredients be improved?

  3. How to predict difference in polarity between active and stratum corneum?

  4. If the oil phase contains volatile oils, can FFE predict whether they will be distributed to the skin or volatilized?
