Course Description

Reach better performance (impact strength, tensile strength, gloss, flame retardancy, electrical/ mechanical properties...) in your plastics without overdosing additives/fillers and, hence reducing cost.

How? By mastering dispersion & understanding the micro properties!

Observe visible improvement of overall effects at lower cost and establish a new standard of quality with Expert Luis Roca. Save time as you realize the problems faster, establish a link between final properties, dispersion and processing conditions.

Luis Roca is the Head of the Compounding Department at AIMPLAS. He is an experienced polymer researcher specializing in compounding.

Throughout his career, Luis has worked as an R&D project developer, either as the lead or supporting researcher, collaborating with plastic companies to modify or enhance polymer properties across regional, national, and European projects. He has contributed to various projects involving nanomaterials, biopolymers, flame retardancy, natural fibers, electrical conductivity, and recycling.

With over 15 years of experience in processing a wide range of polymers—including commodity plastics, starch-based biopolymers, technical polymers, and high-performance materials—Luis has also delivered more than 3,000 hours of training courses to companies in areas such as compounding, additives, fillers, and injection molding. Additionally, he has presented at numerous seminars organized by AIMPLAS and at various conferences related to plastic modification and recycling.

Why should you view this course?

Worrying if your product will meet the end properties or not is real. But increasing the dosage of additives to compensate for the failure in achieving optimal properties, increases the cost drastically. Also, this way the density of the product increases, and it could kick you out of the market.

Well, according to Luis Roca, instead of final property measurement, start measuring dispersion, a key to avoid or solve failure faster.

Reasons you can't miss this course:

  1. Save money as you achieve the desired properties without adding more additives.

  2. Stay ahead of competitors by identifying the failure sooner with the measurement of dispersion and hence solving the root cause of the issue.

  3. Increase standardizing and ultimately achieve a better way of assessing the quality of your product.

Who should join this course?
  • Formulators, masterbatch producers, compounders, extruders, and additive suppliers who wish to discover how better dispersion can improve productivity, properties, and appearance of the final product.

  • Complete the course and (unlock your personalized certificate)– your badge of accomplishment awaits!

Questions you will be able to answer after this course:
  1. Why does increasing filler improve some properties but ruin others (like gloss or flexibility)?

  2. Can I meet customer specs with less additive/filler?

  3. Why is my product heavier and more expensive than the competition?

  4. Sometimes the color is different after injection molding, compared to when we
tested after producing masterbatch / dry blend. Can I say that it is because it is not
    well dispersed yet?
