Seamas Grant is a research consultant working in the areas of adhesives and coatings. Seamas worked in the Research and Development group of Loctite Corporation (later Henkel) for 35 years. He graduated from University College Dublin in 1974 and completed a Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry in 1977. On leaving college, he joined the European Research and Development group of Loctite (Irl) Ltd in Tallaght, where he worked on the development of engineering adhesives for fast assembly processes.

In 1984, he moved to the Electronics Product area and led the Global Product Development team from 1996 to 2003. In 2003, he moved to Technology Management and managed the Henkel Global Technology Platform for Acrylates until his departure in 2012.

Seamas has extensive experience in the technology of reactive adhesives, particularly acrylic, anaerobic, epoxy, cyanoacrylate, and photocuring products. He has significant experience in product development and the efficient management of product development activities.

Why should you view this course?

Clarify whether nanocellulose has possibilities in your commercial adhesive formulations with a comprehensive view on types and structures (CNC, CNF…), performance claims, factors limiting interest, and where it is accelerating.

Seamas Grant will share the conclusions of his patent mapping and discussions with industry experts regarding the use of nanocellulose for structural property modification in polymers.

  1. Update on nanocellulose's potential for adhesives with an in-depth review by a 35+ years experienced expert.

  2. Be savvy with nanocellulose: Understand what's key for performance and what can limit its effect (treatments, functionalization, etc.).

  3. From 60 to 1000+ publications on nanocellulose in almost 10 years... Detect fields where it is accelerating, where there are commercial successes, etc.
